Myrtos is located 15 km from Ierapetra (the southernmost town of Europe) and 120 km from Heraklion-Airport. It’s a day trip or less from to all the southern sightseeing places: Vai palm beach, Knossos, Lassithi high lands… And along the road you’ll find the finest beaches ever. Myrtos is an ideal spot for day trips and adventures. Most attractions are spaced from 500m to 100km far from Myrtos. There are sightseens that you can visit on foot and by car. In the village there is a tour office for daily walks in a very remarkable and unknown places even from the locals.

Spinalonga island

It is a small island near Elounda and is known as the island of lepers. It is the most visited archaeological site in Crete after Knossos. In the Venetian castle of the island were living, isolated, the lepers from Crete and the rest of Greece until 1957

Gaidouronisi island

A small island just 8 miles from the port of Ierapetra. Image a little tropical island with turquoise waters, beaches with black sand full of shells and the unique cedars of Lebanon. Recommended for those who want quick natural suntan. There are daily departures from the pier of Ierapetra

Canyon of Sarakina

Located just 6 km from Myrtos is the sheer beauty of the Sarakina canyon. The length of the canyon is 1,5 km and it’s width is from 3 meters the narrower to 10 meters at the wider point. The walls of the canyon reach a maximum height of 150 meters which makes it very impressive. The water is flowing almost all year round and is rich in vegetation and bird species. It is ideal for daily visits with your children
